Join the Team as a Dynamic Project Lead in Safe Water Access
We are looking for a dynamic project lead to help 1) refine our business plan and marketing approach for the Venturi doser, 2) determine optimal manufacturing strategy and establish capacity, 3) launch partnerships with companies, NGOs, and/or governments that include large-scale deployment of the technology, and 4) design the next set of impact evaluations. The successful candidate will achieve these goals by: 1) Researching costs and strategies for manufacturing and selling the Venturi in low-income markets; 2) Forming and/or strengthening partnerships with private, public, and non-profit organizations that have complimentary safe water goals; 3) Develop branding for the Venturi; 4) Coordinate pilot projects of in-line chlorination with implementation partners to assess dissemination models and impacts; and 5) Assist with proposal writing and fundraising, and potential the creation of a start-up organization to scale this approach. A future goal is to conduct large-scale impact evaluations to better understand the economic returns of implementing in-line chlorination in community and institutional settings (e.g. health care facilities and schools), to rigorously assess health impacts such as neonatal and child mortality, cognitive development, and schooling attainment. The successful candidate will have:
1)    Graduate training in a relevant field
2)    Experience with research or implementation of clean water projects in low-income countries
3)    Passion for increasing global access to safe water
Additional desired qualities include business experience (particularly with technology and/or start-up companies), knowledge of low-income country markets, and strong quantitative analysis and modeling skills. Please send your CV, contact information for three references, a cover letter outlining your interest in the position to pickering at berkeley.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position has been filled.
